Rental Rates & Payments

The Long Island Violin Shop rents instruments on a month-to-month basis, with a three month minimum rental period. The fees for the first three months are due when the instrument is rented, and there are no further contracts or obligations beyond the first three months. Instruments may be returned for a full refund within one week, after which these fees are non-refundable. At the start of the 4th month, your credit/debit card will be charged monthly. We bill your card automatically, and accept Mastercard, Visa, American Express, Discover, and Debit.

The Total Monthly Fee is comprised of:

Monthly Rent Fee: The fee for use of our instrument and bow.

Protection Plan: Our protection and maintenance program is automatically included in the price of every rental instrument. The program features zero-deductible coverage against light damage, including broken stings, bridges, bows, etc.

SHIPPING

We gladly ship rental violins, violas, & cellos nationwide. Renters are responsible for all outgoing and return shipping costs. The following are estimates of shipping costs that a renters typically incur:

Violin/Viola: $30 one-way (initial shipment or return), $50 two-way (change size, repair, or maintenance)

Cello: $50.00 one-way (initial shipment or return), $80 two-way (change size, repair, or maintenance)

*Estimates based on shipping one of our standard rental instruments to/from addresses in the NY Metro Area. The Protection Plan does not cover shipping for damaged instruments, bows, or cases, and does not cover instruments, bows, or cases in the custody of shipping companies or delivery services.

CANCELLATIONS & LATE FEES

As mentioned above, renters have no obligation beyond the non-refundable 3-month initial rental period; you may return an instrument at any time without penalty. Instruments returned early do not have rental fees pro-rated.

We depend on prompt payment to keep our fees reasonable for all our clients. A 5 days grace period is allowed for late payments, after which a $10 monthly fee is assessed.
