Long Island Cares: The Harry Chapin Food Bank is a not-for-profit institution that is working hard during the pandemic to help feed individuals and families in need on Long Island. Harry Chapin was dedicated to the cause of ending world hunger and he established the food bank in 1980, just one year before his tragic death in a car accident. Since then, the food bank has grown to support over 580 community-based member agencies including food pantries, soup kitchens, emergency shelters, veterans services and more.
