Honoré Derazey Violin C. 1880

$ 13,500.00

Honoré Derazey (1794 – 1883) was a French violin maker who trained in Mirecourt and Paris.  He apprenticed under several fine makers, including Jean Baptiste Vuillaume for nearly ten years and then moved back to Mirecourt where he established his own shop in 1839.  He was quite successful and worked with his son, Justin Amédée Derazey, later in life.

This violin was made during his later years and is a high-quality 19th century French instrument.  Very comfortable and easy to play with a sweet, yet robust voice that retains that old-world sound that is full of color.   Two-piece highly flamed back, beautiful orange-brown varnish.  It's quite lovely to look at and is in excellent condition.
