Our goal

The Long Island Violin Shop wants everyone to be able to use our website. We are working toward conforming to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA. We have not yet reached full conformance: our site is partially conformant.

What we have done

• Added descriptive text for product and page images.
• Added a page heading and clear labels for the main menu, search, and sort and filter controls.
• Organized each page into labeled regions (header, main content, footer) so screen reader users can jump between them.
• Improved text color contrast on our contact page.
• Kept keyboard navigation, a skip-to-content link, and visible focus outlines.

Known limitations

• Some older product photos and some third-party content (such as embedded videos, payment screens, and the accessibility widget) may not fully meet WCAG 2.1 AA.
• Some product descriptions supplied by manufacturers may contain images of text or tables that are hard to read with assistive technology.
• Menus that open on hover may be harder to use with some assistive devices; all menu links are also reachable by keyboard.

We test our site with automated tools and are fixing the remaining issues as we find them.
